Data are sometimes used for making program decisions regarding promotional activities incorporated in the library program. According to ConnectED, the average Lexile measure for the following homerooms are as follow: 3-01 - 190L 3-03 - 60L 3-04 - 200L 4-01 - 85L 4-03 - N/A 4-04 - 340L 5-01 - 470L 5-02 - 605L 5-03 - 400L Promotional activities are implemented for the purpose of getting students to read more due to the low readability of students. Reading more increases reading skills. The library hosted two book fairs this year; the second fair made record-breaking sales. Design-A-Bookmark Contest was not hosted school-wide; bookmark designs were done in class. Click HERE and HERE for sample bookmark designs on Internet Safety. 176 (of 199) students completed the Read to Achieve Challenge. Students who completed the challenge will attend the Read to Achieve Championship on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Reading Champs also received a certificate and a Pizza Hut coupon. Building reading excitement of students in the early grades while they are in the "Learn to Read" stage is extremely important to building avid readers as they progress to the "Read to Learn" stage. Inviting guest readers and 5th grade students to read to the primary grades for Read for the Record reinforced that reading is important and reading is fun. K-2 celebrated Read Across America through the library February 29 - March 1, 2016. Kindergarten students will attend a field trip to the Orpheum on Friday, April 8, 2016 for a theater performance of two Margaret Wise Brown classics, Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. All grades will celebrate Library Week, April 11-15, 2016 |
